1968   Günther Blum founds the company as Engineering Office for the Machine Tool Industry

 

1971   Blum is developing the first NC-control for machine tools based on semiconductor technology

 

1972   First use of Siemens LSL-logic (high reliable 15V integrated circuits) in machine tools by Blum

 

1982   First electronic Workpiece Touch Probe by Blum

 

1982   First Measuring Machine by Blum

 

1985   First Blum Bore Gage for Machine Tools

 

1987   Blum is the first company world-wide who develops and tests a laser system for tool

           breakage detection in machining centers

 

1989   Blum measuring machines are an accepted standard for automated inline measuring machines in

           Europe's automotive industry

 

1991   Blum uses laser diodes with visible light for compact design, for maximum accuracy and reliability

 

1991   Blum Laser Systems reach micron precision and are becoming state of the art in machining centers for

           tool setting, breakage detection and compensation of thermal drift

 

1992   Blum introduces the Laser System Mini with shutter to protect the optics

  

1993   Blum introduces the Micro Laser System in Support and Single Version 

 

1993   Blum develops first measuring machine using the eddy current method for crack detection on wheel

           hubs, drums and rotors

 

1994   NOVOTEST, manufacturer of high-tech gear and impulse test stands becomes part of the group

 

1996   Innovation Award for Blum Laser System at MACH96 in Birmingham

 

1997   First Blum Laser Micrometer for outside diameter measurement

  

1998   LaserControl Nano complements the Blum Laser System family

  

1999   Blum completes the LaserMicro product line with a compact version and optional length

           measuring system

 

2000   Blum introduces the Z-Nano, an economic, high-precision probe system for tool measurement

           and tool breakage detection

 

2001   Alexander Blum is appointed General Manager of Blum-Novotest Group. He joins the management

           and works together with Günther Blum, founder of the company and Manfred

           Baumgarten general manager of Novotest

  

2002   Blum introduces the 3rd laser generation - LaserControl NT (New Technology)

 

2003   Blum introduces the Probe Series TC

 

2004   Blum introduces the Bore Gauge Series BG

 

2005   Blum introduces the LaserControl Hybrid

 

2006   Blum introduces the probe Z-Nano IR for tool length measurement and breakage detection in

           machine tools

 

2007   Blum introduces the temperature sensor TG80 

 

2007   Blum introduces 4 new products incorporating the revolutionary 'shark360' measuring mechanism

           The measuring mechanism is introduced into the combined measuring system LaserControl NT-H 3D

           and the probes TC53 and TC76

 

2008   40th anniversary of Blum-Novotest GmbH

 

2008   Grand opening of new plant with 1900 m²

2010   TC76-DIGILOG –  world’s first touch probe for machine tools, combining digital and analogue
